Reflection

As another year comes to an end.. another begins.. at this point of time, take some time to reflect on this year's happenings.. the good memories you keep.. the bad memories you throw.. As for new year resolutions? Forget it. Why wait till the new year before you can have a resolution?

This year wasn't bad. It was the peak of my NS life. A year ago.. at this day..

I was in my 2nd week in OCS. Wouldn't say a fresh soldier from BMTC, but still it would be my first 'chiong sua' experience after 3 months @ AFRC. In OCS, I remember the first night I was afraid of going to sleep cos I was afraid they might do turn-out.. but luckily there wasn't any.

Common Leadership Term

My first turn-out was during my first field camp in months. Leadership fieldcamp. It was hell. Ended up with the uniform full of wet sticky mud, sleep deprievation and of course pain. It was also our first casevac of many to come in future field camps.

First navigation exercise of many to come..

It was also in OCS that i first handled the SAR21 rifle. Could remember that when i first held it, it was rather heavy. But i got used to the weight soon after.

I remembered having to book in on New Year's Eve.. the feeling sucked. But still the instructors also booked in with us.

Service term

Patrol fieldcamp: Our first mission-based fieldcamp of many many to come.

Platoon fieldcamp: Our first platoon lvl training. First defence mission (digging).

It was in this 3 months that I learnt other weapon systems which would prove useful in the future exercises.

Professional Term

My first time doing a turn out on the junior cadets. Had a blast of a time wacking them. =D

More weapon systems training that would prove useful in COMPANY-level exercises.

First encounter with a proper Ops Orders. First platoon level live firing, first company level exercise. 2 overseas missions.

First coastal hook exercise, first UO training.

Joint Term

Needless to say. Sword, commissioning parade, comms ball. End of a cadet's life, the beginning of an officer's life.

These are the good memories.. the bad memories.. what bad memories?

X'mas

Not sure why, this year's xmas just couldn't feel the mood. Feels like just another day for me. =/

Celebrated it last nite at one of gong's fren's studio. Nice place, can say it is quite spacious. Got a calculator in xchange.. not sure how i'm gonna use it though.

Still, here I am in camp.. watching TV for almost the entire day.. Like i said.. Just another day.

X'mas eve

Had a bn cohesion party on Fri.. it's a party whereby there aren't really any ranks involved. A time where commanders and men can really mingle together. Some of the senior commanders i realised they can really play hard as well. For eg my S3. When it comes to play, he plays hard too. Had a good time. But for most of the bn.. they just can't wait to book out. =.=

As for myself and my clerks, we were told to stay back on Sat in preparation of the integrated audit in Jan. Much as we hated it, we still took it in our stride. We joked and played around. Shouting all over the office. Just like another normal working day just that it is a sat... so none of the external people works we were more or less had more 'freedom' in a sense that we can concentrate on the preparation for audit. And since the only peeps in HQ were us, i guess we really enjoyed the freedom.

After which.. went for a quick xmas shopping @ Marina Sq. Went there, objective spotted, objective taken, hasty retreat. Time taken for attack: 30mins. A lil too fast eh?

And the chat box is up again.. too long no posts.. =(

Just another weekend..

Nothing much for the past weekend.. went jogging on Friday night.. jog not even 5 mins kena chase by a pair of dogs near bt batok polyclinic there.. zz.. run till no energy to continue my run. kns.

Watch 'Flag of our Fathers' on Sat night. Must say the movie is quite confusing.. switching between a number of parts. The time before the planting of flag, after the planting of flag, and to civilisation.. also the future.. the most confusing parts is the before and after of planting of flags cos its all war scenarios. If you plan to watch this movie, do stay for the credits. Shows alot of war photos and lastly the famous photo that turned the tide of the war.
